West Coast Swing

We teach Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced level West Coast Swing Classes. Start with our Basic Class where you will learn the basic patterns of the dance.  When you are ready, continue with the Intermediate Class where you will learn some essential variations, concepts and techniques.  Then move up to the Advanced Class where we add styling, musicality and fun variations to your dancing.

NO PARTNER NECESSARY FOR ANY CLASS.


Basic West Coast Swing

This is your introduction to the unique and wonderful dance that is West Coast Swing. You'll learn the basic patterns that are the foundation of the dance and the basis for all the variations that you'll learn as an upper level dancer. You'll experience plenty of music, detailed instruction and practice time to make it work.  Become familiar with footwork, lead and follow skills, and connection with a partner. If you are new to dancing, or new to dancing West Coast Swing, this is the class to get you started on your way.  This class is a prerequisite for the Intermediate Class.

Intermediate West Coast Swing

In Intermediate class we introduce fundamental variations on the basic patterns.  Deepen your knowledge of lead, follow and partnering skills.  Learn concepts, terminology, turn technique and anchoring skills to spice up your dancing.  This class is the bridge from basic to advanced dancing, and is a prerequisite for the Advanced Class.

Prerequisite:  Basic West Coast Swing, and Instructor permission needed to join Intermediate class.

Advanced West Coast Swing

Advanced Class will include further variations on the basic patterns.  As an experienced West Coast Swing student, your social dance vocabulary will grow as basic patterns develop into complex moves.  We focus on making these moves work for you.  Both leaders and followers will learn spins and turns, musicality, styling, and advanced technique.  Learn to match your dancing to the variety of music you will hear on the social dance floor.

Prerequisite:  Basic West Coast Swing, Intermediate West Coast Swing, and Instructor permission needed to join Advanced Class.

Pricing

Classes are run in ongoing 4 week sessions.  Each class is 45 minutes long.

Because the basics are so important in this dance, we offer the following discounts for students taking more than one class per month:

Add Intermediate Class to Basic or Advanced for $23.00 per person
All three - Basic, Intermediate and Advanced for $90.00 per person

Schedule
All group classes are taught on Tuesday evenings at Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio in Vails Gate, NY.  See our directions page for directions to the studio:

Basic 7:00 - 7:45
Intermediate 8:00 - 8:45
Advanced 9:00 - 9:45

Practice for Registered Students:  15 minutes before and after each class, starting at 6:45 and ending at 10:00

Private Lessons

Private lessons are a great way to get individual attention that focuses on specific aspects of your dancing. Bring your questions and we will help refine technique, increase dance move repertoire, and improve confidence. We teach together to provide you with both leader and follower perspective. Price is
$60/hour.
